RE: to sale a core2duo or wait for emulator?
Speeds are not likely to improve significantly for older hardware (actually, its literally the inverse). The higher compatibility, the faster processor required to handle the improved emulation. It is not "wonky code" that was making games run slow, they just require this much horsepower.
Having a Core2Duo will be a much wiser decision than spend the next year hoping for miraculous optimizations for older processors. Mind to be more specific, by the way? I'm not sure I understood your question fully. What are your hardware specs that you seem unsatisfied with? (processor, graphic card, ram...) PS: someone move this out of the archive with a 2 days redirection (keep it open). deviantART | GeneralEmu | PCSX2 0.9.6 screenshots ![]() VBA-M | @ES | PCSX2 | Dolphin |

RE: to sale a core2duo or wait for emulator?
i´ve a core2duo 3.0ghz, nvidia 8400gs m, ddr2g 1gb 800z, my question is this: to sell my core2duo for to buy 4consoles???, or is best to wait for pcsx2 can be playable games like: god of war1 and2, ghost rider can be playable in pcsx2??because i think that i will be a old man waiting for that....the progress in this emulator is very slower. i know that is hard c++ and all the way of developers, but i trust in emulation i don´t know why, but i can´t play my preferables games and i´ve a long time waiting for compatibility with those and nothing happens....looks that: at the begin pcsx2 did goes very fine, but the problems was stared, gabest was went for a lot of time no more gsdx upgrade and no more zerogs upgrade, no more comnpatibility with games and nothing, only pcsx2 beta at least more faster, the problem to me is not the speed, the real pcsx2 problems is about compatibility and the graphics out, pcsx2 is not showing right the graphics in very much games and this makes games unplayables, the best ps2 games are unplayables in pcsx2...much people getts a core2duo thinking that pcsx2 goes to run the preferables game because they trust in emulation like me, but incompatibility is so sad that cause frustrations, and is bored play games that its not preferables..otherwise zeroforg is froozed, he is static and he doesn´t makes new upgrades, gabest puts the gsdx svn 752 but there not a notables changes only for speed, them: gabest and zerofrog working in pcsx2 graphics out, but nobody more, this the big problem, if zerofrog or gabest is not more nobody makes something or can to gives supports for makes a gsdx dll with visual and more libraries for together makes a best video plugin, and pcsx2 team can´t contac somebody more for this great problem, the people can pay for the best video plugin but not is not too, all is not.

RE: to sale a core2duo or wait for emulator?
Sigh, allow me to clarify a few points of interest...
Quote:is best to wait for pcsx2 can be playable games like: god of war1 and2, ghost rider can be playable in pcsx2??because i think that i will be a old man waiting for that....Do not wait. If you only want to play, or want multiplayer, I'll have to recommend that you play on a real PS2 immediately, since PS2 emulation on the PC does *not* interest you, despite your claim of the contrary. Real console = Fullspeed, 100% compatiblity, and 129 $ isn't even expensive. Quote:the progress in this emulator is very slower...Its actually advancing surprisingly fast, but only advanced coders should be in position to understand that fully. Quote:i can´t play my preferables games and i´ve a long time waiting for compatibility with those and nothing happens....looks that: at the begin pcsx2 did goes very fine, but the problems was stared,Even purchasing a 3000 $ computer *might* not enable you to play these games, so a PS2 truly would be the wisest option you'd have. Quote:gabest was went for a lot of time no more gsdx upgrade and no more zerogs upgrade, no more comnpatibility with games and nothingCoders have a life, jobs, girlfriends, family, obligations... Free time is limited. They have no obligations to anyone. Quote:the real pcsx2 problems is about compatibility and the graphics out, pcsx2 is not showing right the graphics in very much games and this makes games unplayables, the best ps2 games are unplayables in pcsx2... This is just an opensource project. Again, I'd like to recommend just playing on the real PS2 instead, if you are unwilling to cope with the shortcomings of PC-based emulation (which was never supposed to be perfect) Quote:much people getts a core2duo thinking that pcsx2 goes to run the preferables game because they trust in emulation like me, but incompatibility is so sadNo, they get dual cores for different reasons, PC gaming mainly. Not really sounding like 'trust in emulation'... Compatibility is pretty high too. There's a limit to the magical wizardry that can be done. Again, PS2. Quote:zeroforg is froozed, he is static and he doesn´t makes new upgrades, gabest puts the gsdx svn 752 but there not a notables changes only for speed, them: gabest and zerofrog working in pcsx2 graphics out, but nobody more, this the big problem, if zerofrog or gabest is not more nobody makes something or can give supports for make a gsdx dll with visual and more libraries for together makes a best video plugin, and pcsx2 team can´t contac somebody more for this great problem, the people can pay for the best video plugin but not is not too, all is not. These people have no obligation to anyone. They have done an amazing job, each in their areas of knowledge, and have contributed a *lot* to PCSX2. Their GPU plugins are simply the best. They also are opensource, so anyone can try making a "better graphic renderer" starting from their codebase. Noone has undertaken such a task, simply because the vast majority of coders does not have the amount of knowledge required to be able to equal their output, so nevermind surpassing Zero's and Gabest's renderers. Frankly, and all in all, I'd suggest that you keep the complaining to a minimum, and remember that playing with a real PS2 will get you satisfied. deviantART | GeneralEmu | PCSX2 0.9.6 screenshots ![]() VBA-M | @ES | PCSX2 | Dolphin |

Not even some coders have a jobs, girlfriends, and family you know ? What about boyfriends and family? RE: to sale a core2duo or wait for emulator?
I want to say my own opinion: PS2 emulation it's not anymore a dream, but the main problem its the "limited" hardware that we can get now! The people behind PCSX2 are doing their best... you can't annoy them for make playable games, the emulation is basically: "you fix something, you break other somewhere". For now you can only thanks all the coders because you can see something move on your PC (but as I read, you can't). If you are dissapointed by emulation, buy your PS2. Sometimes I try out their improvements and I'm very happy, they have reached an high stage! Who know if in the future we can run PS2 with 100% speed even on a low PC???
My specs: OS: Windows XP Professional/ CPU: AMD Athlon 2.01 Ghz/ RAM: 2 GB RAM/ VB: RADEON X700 SE/ SB: SB Creative X-Fi/ DVD: LG GDR8164B/ DVD + RW: Pioneer DVR-111D |

RE: to sale a core2duo or wait for emulator?
With as difficult as it is to emulate the ps2 hardware, we should all be thankful that pcsx2 even exists. To me, it’s almost unreal that such progress has been made, especially considering all the crap that psx emulation went through before becoming halfway playable. For me, every game I’ve tried (that’s listed as playable) runs smoothly, and I’m quite satisfied with it. I have game systems, but I almost never use them because I prefer just pulling a game up on my pc as I’m attracted to the idea of simply being able to do that on a pc.
That being said, right now it requires a pretty beefy machine to adequately emulate ps2, but when I look back at all the ports of ps2 games (silent hill 2~4, Resident Evil 4, etc…) that were running perfectly on my old 1.0 ghz laptop with a crappy video card, the possibility of ps2 emulation running on lower-end machines seems much more reasonable. 馬鹿は死ななきゃ直らない |

RE: to sale a core2duo or wait for emulator?
hogonosama you need to read the dozens of threads which explain why ps2 emulation is so hard and so incredibly complex.
Anyways the coders do this work for free and one of their only rewards is the thanks, appreciation and gratitude they get from those that use the program. Sometimes when you post something like you did in the gsdx thread back at emuforums and mention a problem it can sound ungreatful like your begging or requesting a fix and not being thankful for the work they do. You have to careful how you word your posts, particularily since things can be misinterpretted becasue of your poor english. But overall you should be greatful for the work they do. Whats PCXL you ask? No not an emulator but the greatest gaming magazine ever known to mankind. RIP 1998-2002. |
