Unsure myself. Some console homebrew procedures arent as documented as the mainstream ones (theres sega genesis homebrew too).
If a DV64 is needed, Ive seen one made available for trading at emuforums last week (misc n64 section).

For homebrew -on- consoles, the (IMO) reference in that domain might be Elitendo (for n64) or TehSkeen. Not sure of what one would need, but a browse couldnt be bad. Elitendo details the specifics you were interessed by.
