RE: PCSX3 an eminent possibility?

Since we all know that the ps3 will use OpenGLES 2.0 and Cg Shaders, it's possible to use HLE to emulate PS3. I just don't like to sound so negative as everyone else when it comes to ps2/ps3 emulation speeds/possibilities. But for LLE sake, scratch that, because atm fully emulating a Nvidia RIVA 128 with current documentation is impossible, let alone the NVidia RSX. Wink

Well the cause for this could be that atm, the PS3 isn't even out Wink

But I understand your point. However it to pcsx2 years to get the PS2 emulated at a normal speed... till then there will be good enough hardware.

Good Idea, maybe by the time PS4 comes out we will have PCSX3. Grin

actually its not impossible, you just use techniques much like xbox's limited emulators do, hook on to the library calls and use the actual graphics card, instead of emulating the card Wink

I'm just saying, if you can't emulate the RIVA 128, there's no chance in heaven of emulating RSX regardless because ALL NVidia GPUs use the same register offsets (with different register base addresses). I'm not trying to say I know everything here, but I do know a thing or two about NVidia GPU emulation by experience.... it's VERY f00king hard Smile

Like refraction noted, why emulate graphics when they can be simulated.

i have found website with the info that ps3 will have linux operating system from
"terra soft solutions" - "yellow dog linux"
here is the link
http://www.terrasoftsolutions.com/products/ydl/

ps.maybe people will have a chance to make homebrew programs for ps3 without installing mod chips?

ps2.in real life many science fiction books seems to be "going too far", but after certain period of time we see that it became possible, so ps3 emu should be available in the future.

I posted that because it seems that fabiank22 (as well as most people in general) underestimate the difficulty of emulating an NVidia GPU using LLE regardless of it's age/uberness. Besides, I agree with refraction, HLE is the way to go.

sorry i dont get your point? the PS2 had linux... so surely the arguement "oh it runs linux so it must be easier to emulate" would be null and void?

remember linux is open source, it can be compiled into any native code from its original source files. its kinda like saying "this game was ported to the pc from console x so it must be easy to emulate" it just doesnt work like that Toungue

I was happy that they told about a chance to make homebrew programs for ps3 without installing mod chips.

i did not say linux = easier emulating.

i know that unofficial emulators are made about the end of the platform "life", never in the same time.

ps.maybe nobody of you know, but there must exist any ps3 emulator - because at game shows, games for ps3 were run from mac with powerpc. (i read about it about  10 months ago)

You were seriously thinking of thinking about programming an open source PSP Emulator, but you're not that good in C++?

I barely know C++ or even not at all, but I'd be willing to devote the time to learning C++ By online Tutorials/Projects and interactive learning websites, if there is any, if you are willing to.

I.e. Learning to code, put a team together, and other things to program an emu.

I felt S!MS Phony PSP Emulator, was a disgrace to the emulation scene, and would like nothing more to program a PSP Emu, to make him feel ashamed and embarassed.

I'll open a thread in Programming Discussion, and See if anyone knows any great sites with interactive C++/Programming Tutorials.

As for a PCSX3, I can hardly wait if the team decides to program a PS3 Emu. However there might be a small complication if the Blue-Ray drives don't come out for the PC or come out in Time Wink

think you possibly got the wrong end of the stick a bit there Tongue wink unless sony have made some sort of dodgy emu (altho i doubt it) i mean, there are NO docs on the ps3 hardware yet, only Cell documents, so making a full emulator for the PS3 would be near on impossible, id like it if you could find this article.

apologies for jumping to conclusions on the linux thing, i totally miss-interpreted that
