We prefer the term "emulate". As it is what an emulator does.

The RAM is too low.
Your graphics card model "might" be able to survive the overwhelming power of PCSX2.
Your CPU is ok-ish. You should be able to run "something" out of it.

You can try, no harm in trying. If it doesn't work than just play on your PS2.

Non-intensive 2D games could run at acceptably playable speeds (like Disgaia 2). Just try GSdx 0.1.7 and zeroGS, and see whichever gives you the better results (though I wouldn't expect too stunning speeds, were I you.

What is the exact name of your core? If it's a Celeron, things will run like s@#%. If you're using a 64-bit CPU, things will just be "OK" with some games. My specs get me 40fps in a handful of games and others less than that so it really depends on what game you're running sometimes. If you're going to be using ZeroGS get a better video card. More ram is always a plus. Get a dual core if you can afford it. That's my 2 cents.

Sounds alright for acceptable speeds, with a higher processor clock

RE: is my rig enough to play some PS2 games?

Is you're new processor a Core2Duo? If so it should play some/most games at an acceptable speed paired with that 8600GT. Just make sure you have dual core/mtgs and Vurec's checked in the cpu options of PCSX2.

GPU isn't the bottleneck in PCSX2, the CPU is so you need a fairly good cpu such as a Core2Duo or equivalent to get acceptable speeds on a lot of 3d games.

However if you want to know for sure, if you have a 3d game available such as Twisted Metal, Resident Evil, Final Fantasy etc.... try them out on PCSX2.

Depending on how intensive the graphics are and how much geometry a game has to render, some 3d games might run slower/faster than others.

Is Core2Duo the same with Dual core?? It was said to have a Dual Core and 1.6Ghz..

What if I overclock it to about 2.4Ghz??Will it play better?

Core2Duo is a brand of Intel processor, specifically the newer Intel processors that are on the market.

You can find out what type of CPU you have by using CPU-Z, a Google search should find that application. Once you have it, run it and post back what type of CPU you have.

Intel Core2Duo's and some higher end AMD processors are the only processors that will achieve anything decent, specifically anything above the Intel Core2Duo E6xxx series.Wink

RE: is my rig enough to play some PS2 games?

From your sig I'd guess it's one of the newer Pentium Dual Core CPUs (also called Pentium E). This is basically a Core 2 with less cache space, so performance per clock should be fairly close to a Core 2. (Some applications work fine in the reduced cache space and perform just as well on a Pentium E as a Core 2, while others may suffer a little.) They're supposed to be pretty good overclockers as well, so if you know what you're doing, overclocking it could bring in some good performance increases.

You listed the exact processor Toasty thought you had, so it should perform decent according to his post.Smile
