RE: final fantasy 7 on ps3

please tell me you joking. no. its not going to be remade on any system. that goes for ps3, xbox, gameboy whatever, etc. what you saw was what is known as a "tech demo", where developers can show off the performance capabilities of a system. they just happen to have chosen to use FFVII as their bragging method. dumb idea imo. look how many people are foaming at the mouth for a remake that doesnt need to be done.

Have I heard MP3? Toungue

There is a tool called FF7Music by Ficedula that allows you to import an MP3 soundtrack into the game. However, set-up is tedious, if you can get it working at all.

And I can also back-up, with proof, that there will be no remake. Square officially said that it was only a tech demo and they had NO plans whatsoever for a remake.

Awesome, I need to keep that in mind.

Though I have to agree with Hyuga that the Yamaha one wasn't too bad. It was intense on the PC resources though.

I hope my X1950Pro will do a good job on the graphics though, I don't feel like I should put in my TNT2 just for that game.

You can get all sorts of mods for FF7PC now, make it run in 1280x1024, switch Cloud with Sephiroth, use battle sprites on field, replacement textures, transparent dialog boxes and whatnot. Check out Ficedula's homepage/Qhimm forums+wiki.

As for an FF7 remake, I think it might be likely now I think about it. If anyone noticed, they've already remade FF1-4, they're probably working their way upto it. Hope we see remakes of FF8 and FF9. That'd be sweet.

RE: final fantasy 7 on ps3

Yeah, SE due to the lack of good ideas (most of the people who created Final Fantasy series have left some time ago) changes its policy to making remakes and dozen of games based on previous products. And it's been getting worse and worse since fusion with Enix. So it's likely that they will release a remake eventually, but for the time being there are only rumors.

Me wanna remakes of VS and Xenogears, please Toungue

The Sephiroth patch has been around since '99 or something Toungue

I don't even like these battle models being used in the field (they're not sprites mog Wink), it completely breaks the atmosphere and the rest of the models will look deformed as well. Besides, I love the old style. Same with textures probably, something just might look wrong. But I'll look it up again. I think I still have an account at that place as well. Thanks for the headsup.

RE: final fantasy 7 on ps3

I saw that Qhimm was mentioned above and since the thread is about a FF7 remake, I think it bears noting that they've recently forked Q-Gears into two projects, one of them being the original project (FF7/Xenogears portable engine) and an RPG Making framework. But, aside from that, they've made some pretty neat advances in the engine which should definitely be checked out. (Link: http://forums.qhimm.com/index.php?topic=6829.0)

Edit: I forgot to mention that, if you have the PSX version, you'll get a much nicer gaming experience running FF7 in ePSXe than you will by running FF7PC. (Among other reasons: rendering at high-resolution, shader options, savestates, full audio and it's far less buggy.) Even with the FF7PC mods out there, FF7+ePSXe is still more versatile.

RE: final fantasy 7 on ps3

there was only one card, voodoo something or other i think, that it would recognize if you wanted to use the hardware mode in the pc version. if you didnt have it you were out of luck and stuck with software. strange thing is the software mode looked like crap compared to the ps version even if you use an emulator and play it with no graphical enhancements or just use a real ps to play it, the ps verison was still superior. dont even get me started on the sound/music quality. i cant believe that the pc version typically sells for more compared to the ps one, its a total rip-off.

RE: final fantasy 7 on ps3

@JonC: The PC version doesn't sell for more because it's better. It sells for more because there are roughly (and this is a scientific estimate) 800 kajillion units of the PSX game sold but the PC game did not have nearly the same distribution.
