burning program question

Should I burn ps2 games on DVD-R or DVD+R ? I am told that DVD-R is much better.

Also which brand dvd-r is better ? TDK, SONY or what ? Thanks in advance.

RE: burning program question

I use TDK DVD-R for everything (Movies, PC, Wii, PS2) I backup, ever faults, never had issues (Had issues with quite a few brands). It really depends on your burner sometimes as well.

RE: burning program question

DVD+R will be much better and error-safe (DVD-R has considerably lower error resilence compared to +R). The consoles' drive itself tends to perform less troublesomely with -R , but for preservation and archiving purposes, DVD+R will be the wiser.

Just get known excellent brands. My personal preference goes to Tayo Yuden, the most warmly recommended one (their discs are sold under the labels of different corps. Verbatim, for instance. For all purposes, all Tayo Yuden DVDs have the exact same archival quality and disc components.
Panasonic, Plextor, Sony, TDK and Verbatim generally could be Tayo Yuden discs.

What I was told / read on multible sources and wasted a s**t load of cash on them, they worked better for movies, but when it came to cames for some reason I had a ton of issues with them freezing up, etc.

RE: burning program question

This compare mentions the most significant difference.

While the playback blockiness for movies would not be as much a concern with +R than with -R, corectly and badly burned (data) medias also benefit from the higher error correction (medias less prone to disc rot after only 2 years)

RE: burning program question

DVD+R is better for everything.
Old PS2s with the first generation drives/lens will read DVD-R better.

By default, +R or -R will not matter as much as the quality brand used (Tayo Yuden very recommended. theyre not even any pricier than discs of other brands)
