Windows XP 64-bit drivers :(

Man this is really lame. I was all gung ho for a bit about stickin on xp 64-bit edition on my machine for testing, but I realized stupid ASUS does not have jack for 64-bit drivers for my laptop. Alot of the main ones I can find, but the biggest problem is the lack of a 64 bit ATI driver for the x1700. Also, can't find my chipset driver which is rather important as well.

Man, this sucks, I only have one option for 64 bit now. I have all my drivers for Vista 64 but the last time I tried that I was fairly dissapointed with program support etc that was compatible with it. I havn't decided if it is worth switching over to Vista 64 yet, but you know, I guess I might not have any choice I wanna work in a 64 bit environment - well, minus my FD6, but windows is a little easier to work with for what I do.

Oh well, dun know. Guess I'm just screwed.

RE: Windows XP 64-bit drivers :(

I suppose that it could be quite difficult to get around the lack of chipset drivers (although normally, Microsoft's general ones are just fine... I have found that it can cause errors to install ones from the manufacturer of the chipset). However, you should be able to use the latest Catalyst Driver from ATI/AMD, your card is listed as being supported; the latest version is 7.3.

Yea, its listed there, however its not in the x64 inf and ya can't find a driver on the ati page that supports it except the ati mobility drivers, which arn't supported by windows xp x64 edition.
