iv been playing suikoden 2 for on EPSXe, and its been working fine. But all of a sudden whenever i cast stronger runes (ie. the ones that require the short cutscenes) the game crashes. I've verified that these freezes are EPSXe related and are not caused by the game itself. Iv tried lowering the frame rate, and it did get through one of the rune sequences once when i tried this, but i have not been able to get this to work again.
Using:
Pete's XGL2 Driver 2.8
P.E.Op.S. OSS Audio Driver 1.9
(this is another problem, i cant get sound to work for any game) Iv tried a few different audio drivers as well.
Im running this on Kubuntu btw.

Alright, to start off...i don't own that game and never played it so I cannot help you out there. I can help you out along the lines of plugins though. Have you just tried the plugins you mentioned in post 1, or others? If its possible, have you tried using P.E.Op.S. GPU v1.17, or Pete's GPU Plugins v1.76? There is also another psx emulator called "pSX Emulator." There is a linux version there which might work. I have found pSX less of a problem to setup and maintain. I'd highly try it if you have given up on epsxe. It might get you through those crashes with epsxe.

I remember playing that game without problems using PSXeven. Now that emu is only for windows but if you have a running windows system you can always transfer memory cards and play through these scenes using PSXeven for example.
