Something Weird with Windows.

Well I had two partitions on my main HDD. One has Vista and one had Windows XP.

Well when I downloaded ubuntu gutsy, I restored the Vista bootloader so I could boot into Vista after I deleted XP. I inserted the Gutsy CD, proceeded to use Gutsy's built in partition editor. I then deleted my XP partion, formatted it and installed ubuntu.

It was then I was Oh Crap! I had some files on my XP partition I needed including my pron I had from Frostwire and Ares P2P.Toungue

I then discovered later (Today) that all my files on my XP partition were now on my Vista partion hidden (Copied??).

How did this happen, I am quite confused especially after I deleted my partition XP resided on, formatted it and installed Ubuntu Gutsy?Eek

Nevertheless, I am quite relieved I didn't lose what I thought I did.

Also is there a way to clean up all the supposedly copied XP files except the ones I want? Is there a list of files which would be safe to delete, I'm sure this happened to people before.

Thank You if anyone can inform me and help.

RE: Something Weird with Windows.

let me understand: now you're running linux and XP? or Linux and Vista?

there's a folder on system32 directory that uses like 600mb, it's called dllcache. It's mainly used when you have some dll altered. so if you dont mess with sys files, it'd be a good thing to get rid of half gig. Smile

No, I had Vista and XP installed on separate partitions on my main hdd, as soon as I uninstalled XP, deleted the XP partition, formatted it and installed Ubuntu Linux Gutsy Gibbon 7.10, all of my files on my XP partition were merged in to my Vista partition in their appropriate directories.

I know this because there were some files that ended up on my Vista partition that were never on it, however they were on my XP partition before I deleted it. Wink

No big deal anyways now, I have deleted Ubuntu and reinstalled XP since I am still having some minor problems or annoyances with Vista and am dual booting XP with Vista once again.

You download porn off those filesharing networks!? I find searching for porn on P2P networks mainly turns up spam, viruses, low quality or just plain disgusting videos. eMule is okay for specific titles, but the queues are evil.

I generally just stick to private torrent trackers for pr0n.

Low quality porn is still porn just like a pussy is still a pussy no mater if the chick is ugly, fat or old.Toungue

Torrenting is difficult on my satellite connection and filesharing P2P networks like Ares or Frostwire allow me to use the full potential of my connection and are not bound by ISP Nat restrictions like Torrents are.
