RE: Shendo got a PSP
OK. Do you plan on making both homebrew compatible? Maybe with two, you could put one at 1.5 and leave it on that, and with the other put a custom firmware on it.
Your 2.5 will be very easy to downgrade, just follow this guide.
2.5 is easier to downgrade (and apparently faster once you upgrade it to 2.71). From there you would run HEN (homebrew enabler) to downgrade it. The 2.81 PSP will be a bit trickier, as it requires an unpatched copy of Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories in order to enable the exploit to run a homebrew enabler. My PSP was originally a 2.71, and it took a few tries, but the homebrew did finally flash the screen blue, which meant I was good to go. Don't try downgrading it until you've seen it flash green or blue, or you run the risk of bricking. Follow these guides to a T and you'll be ok. Good luck and enjoy your new toy.

RE: Shendo got a PSP
Thanks Plot
I successfully downgraded 2.50 one to 1.5. Hehe can't wait to test the stuff out.
As for 2.81 looks like i will have to wait until i get a GTA:LCS i guess.
Edit: Updated from 1.5 to 3.02 OE-B.

RE: Shendo got a PSP
Just be sure it's the unpatched version of GTA: LCS. Also, if you're interested in homebrew and something to help protect against possible bricking, custom firmware is really a nice option. It gives all the homebrew compatibility of 1.5 with all the features of the latest Sony firmware (PSP camera, internet browser, ability to run newer games etc...), as well as extra features, like a fourth level of brightness (very nice indeed), recovery mode, ISO loader and ability to run your own converted PS1 games on Popstation.
I use 3.10 OE-A' and I love it. The upgrade does take a fair bit of time, but is well worth it.

Ehhh? Customer firmware? Thats cool. I had a PSP 1.5 back when they first came out, and everyone was freaking out about the 1.6 and 2.0 firmwares not being downgradable. - I figured the homebrew scene only had one direction to go though. When the new final fantasy comes out I'm going to have to pick up one anyways, so this is something to look forward to.

RE: Shendo got a PSP
I borrowed the LCS so the previous 2.81 PSP is now 3.02 OE-B, same as the first one.
But i admit i was little afraid when i was downgraded and then updated to custom firmware
because that PSP have a TA-82 motherboard (I read that things tend to go wrong with that motherboard).
Anyhow, does 3.10 OE have any (important) advantages over 3.02 OE?

RE: Shendo got a PSP
3.10 OE-A has fixed a few bugs from older versions and has added support for 3.10 firmware games. But just you wait for 3.30 OE-A as PSP FW 3.30 has just been recently released

RE: Shendo got a PSP
3.03 OE-C is probably the most stable from what I've heard. I just took mine from 3.10 OE-A' to 3.03 OE-C to give it a test run (and install some custom waves and icons). So far, it does seem to be more reliable as compared to 3.10 OE-A.

Didn't notice anything different between the two. However in 3.10 some data on the flash wasn't cracked, so you can use most custom theme packs only with 3.03C. Topmenu.rco or sth. like that was the name of the data. If you install a 3.03C-Theme on 3.10-A' then there is a good chance you brick your psp.
Also there was a fix for Metal Slug Anthology in 3.10-A', and being the retro gamer I am I just had to upgrade.

Even if you did try to install themes on a 3.10 OE-A' PSP technically it still won't brick. Because you can still access Recovery Mode and downgrade to 1.50 and back up to 3.10 OE-A' and it will still be working fine. Therefore this is known as a semi-bricked PSP if you can still access the Recovery Mode.
To me I don't care much about the PSP themes I don't mind what they look like so staying in 3.10 OE-A' is fine with me.
