New Case

I just received my Enermax Uber Chakra case that I bought from Club IT at less than half the MRSP.

And with this I have finally finished building my new PC.

It's an ATX full tower case which means that it's pretty big and is almost as high as my shoulder.

The blue stuff under the case is some anti-slip foam that I put there since my table is pretty smooth and the case slides around a little bit when I turn it on.

This is the top of the case with all the switches, lights and ports including one eSATA port, I can't see it when I am sitting down, but then again the unit was designed to sit on the floor.

This is the front of my case and as you can see there is a fairly stylish grove down the middle of it.

Here's a shot of the side, the thing in the side panel is a large mesh with a gigantic 240mm fan in it.

Here's a closeup of the mesh itself

There is also a switch to turn the fan lights on or off as well as a switch to change the fan's direction or to turn it off entirely.

Another shot of the mesh, the fan is surprising quiet for being able to move 50 cfm.

Here's a fairly boring shot of the back.

Plenty of room for DVD drives which mounts in with screw less rails.

More tool less installation, I routed the SATA cables through the space between the floor of the case and the drive cage.

This is a shot of the insides while it's running, the fan seems still because of the camera's flash, the support beams from the picture with the DVD drive are hollow and quite big which allowed me to run the 4 pin power cable inside it while holding it down with with some small clear zip ties

More fairly fancy cable work courtesy of several unused EATX screw holes in the non-removable motherboard tray and some wire ties, the speaker on the side of the motherboard is included with the case, for some reason they saw a need to include a case speaker rather than integrate one into the case.

One thing of note is that the case is really heavy and I had trouble getting it up on my desk due to it's bulk, it's definitely designed to sit on the floor.

Nice case, the side panel looks like a dust magnet though.

Tell me about it. I have a huge one on the front of mine that cools the hard drive bays, and it big black lumps of dust build up on the mesh.

Nice cable management, my case has a whole waterfall of cables behind the DVD writers, but then again my case is a lot smaller, and my PSU is a monster when it comes to connectors.

Now you just need a nice "22 widescreen to go with those 5.1s.

RE: New Case

It's not that hard even with a smaller case, as long as all the cables are going in the same direction you can tie them together and then tie that to a nearby panel with any unused holes.

RE: New Case

Doesn't look that hard to fix with some zip-ties or wire ties.

RE: New Case

Did you just hint at having a manly measurement contest?

How many CFM do you get with that?

RE: New Case

Godwin, that is a horrid case, how often do you have to clean out your heat sinks for dust?

RE: New Case

I think he just got it new, I don't see any hardware in it, what I would comment negatively on is the general area around his case.
That and I my case for less than half the MSRP.

RE: New Case

emwearz, the mesh acts like a bloody filter, so it creates a film of dust on the outside of the mesh and then works its way in. I'm the freaking son of a heating/AC serviceman; I know how big fans work in enclosed spaces. I also only have SATA drives (HDD and optical) in my case with a modular PSU. So wires aren't hogging space. In that sense the air pressure isn't effected too much and CFM is pretty high meaning that I'll have to worry about the dust on the bottom of my case before I worry about my HSF collecting too much dust.
