MySQL errors when replying

I'm trying to add a reply to my FFT thread in the ePSXe board, and whenever I add a reply I get a MySQL error. It's a huge wall of text with stuff from my previous posts, so I wonder why it's trying to process those instead of just my new reply.

I tried adding a normal reply (no attachments), couldn't either, same error.

RE: MySQL errors when replying

Hmm, I just put a test post in, and it took ok.Confused
I'll try adding a ton of text to it, and see if that throws it off.Tongue wink
Edit: OK, for some reason, that took just fine as well. Not sure what the problem is. If it happens again, could you screenshot it for me?

I think posting elsewhere is fine. Could be that thread is borked, I just tried again, check out the attached screenshot.

Can you reply to it and see?

Edit: eh.. I got a small message on top saying sql error replying to this thread... but when I tried again this post came through. o_O;

RE: MySQL errors when replying

Hmm, I'll check with MyBB today and see if there's a fix for this. I haven't hit any SQL errors so far, so not sure why you're hitting them.Confused
Edit: OK, I've posted the issue with them, and hopefully I'll hear something soon.

RE: MySQL errors when replying

I made a new thread then just merged it. Then I realised I probably screwed up the crime scene for the BB people >_> sorry.

I hope that error message was enough for them.

Edit: Aha! The thread is still broken. Can't post replies. On the other hand you can merge into it. Wonderful Confused

RE: MySQL errors when replying

I've posted the issue in their support forum here, and included the info you just posted. Hopefully I'll hear something soon.Hmm
Edit: OK, I've gotten word back from an admin there. I've altered some code suggested by the admin and was informed to test posting with apostrophes in it. So, here's that test, let's see if it worked.Toungue
OK, that worked alright. Celine, try posting in that thread as normal (just do a small post first to test it), and let me know how it goes, k?

RE: MySQL errors when replying

Bah, choked again.

Seems the error begins from my previous post which has doublequotes. I'll see if editing all apostrophes/doublequotes out will help temporarily.

Here's the error pic:

Edit: ok, it's even worse. A new reply was actually appended to the previous post, and all 10 image attachments were discarded.

The only difference this time is I replaced all regular apostrophes ( ' ) with the slanted ones ( ` ), used no doublequotes, and did not preview post.

Think maybe the preview post code needs to be looked at too?

Edit 2: Hmm, when I full edit that post, I see that between the old, original post and the new text that was supposed to be in another reply, there's a strange tag I haven't seen in BBCode. It's in the second pic, circled.

Edit 3: Okay you know what, I'm going to leave that thread alone in case they need to do anything, because if I attempt to salvage it I'll be deleting stuff and all that. Strange thing is, we're quoting and editing and using attachments and doing all sorts of things in this thread too, but with no problems.

RE: MySQL errors when replying

Hmm, I know that bbcode. hr is horizontal rule. And I think the issue may be caused by a plugin I have installed that auto merges double posts. Since you're the only one posting in that thread, it effects you, but in here, you're not double posting, so it doesn't. I'm going to disable the plugin and see if that fixes our problem. Try posting in there again and let me know how it goes, k?

RE: MySQL errors when replying

Okay, it seems to work (attachments were added in reverse order this time for some reason?). Btw I deleted the test posts. Strange, the doublepost plugin didn't seem to catch the earlier 5-in-a-row posts...

Well, if you want to reapply the doublepost plugin go ahead, I can always just merge a new thread. Bit kludgy though, and non-mods wouldn't be able to do it.

RE: MySQL errors when replying

Nah, I'll leave the plugin off. The reason it didn't catch before on those first 5 posts was because I just installed the plugin a few days ago, so anything before that wouldn't have been automerged. Until the plugin is fixed, I'm leaving it off here. As for the order that attachments go in, that's been a bug in the forums software for as long as I can remember, so it's nothing new.Toungue You can always insert them into your post in the order that you want them.Wink
