My PSTwo's clock and sprites has stopped!!!
Well, I recently got bored and decided to take it apart. After I put it back together again and tried it out, at the ps2 main menu, the blue circlely thing has stopped moving plus when I go to System Config I see that the clock in there has stopped as well. Neither of them spin around anymore.
What's even more funny is that the Time is really messed up. It's like this:
00/00/2000 00/00
And if I try to change it, it won't budge. Any ideas guys??? Will it still work with these problems???

Have you tried playing any games on it and saving onto a memory card from in-game? If these work, you should be ok, with the exception of online play which is internal clock-dependent.

Try to run MGS3 on it, if it won't run then you have a problem.

Well if I can live without online gaming and MGS. But are they the only problems I'll encounter??? Also can someone tell me why this happened and maybe a solution???

It really depends on what you were doing inside your system, I'd think. (Modchip? POT adjustment?) I'm not an expert on PS2 hardware but it sounds to me that you damaged the internal clock somehow. (FYI, the background and graphics in the PS2 opening sequence are clock-dependent, which is why they're not moving. Check it out at PS2 Internal Clock Wiki -- it's pretty cool.)
A couple thoughts, from general electronics knowledge:
- Did you do any soldering work? If so, check for a bit of stray solder somewhere in the system. You could have caused a short.
- Were you properly grounded when you opened it up? If not, you could have damaged that part of the system and you'd be out of luck.

RE: My PSTwo's clock and sprites has stopped!!!
Could it be the DSP chip??? Cause I was trying to install the DMS4 E.Z.I. S.E. PRO chip, and I took it apart a couple of times off the DSP chip, now there's several bent pins on it but still relatively straight. (Just a little bent - towards into the inside) Could the DSP chip cause this problem???
Here's a video of the problem, I'm having. (Not my video, but the same problem I'm having.) http://youtube.com/watch?v=QkoazHFoR_o
Also I just wanna ask again if it's just a MGS problem and Online-gaming problem that I'll encounter? As I can live with these 2 problems.
EDIT:
The first time I opened it up it was on a table. then-onwards I putted the PS2 on top a bubble-wrap, lol )

RE: My PSTwo's clock and sprites has stopped!!!
I think that it may be an incompatibility between your specific model of PS2 and the modchip. (It's a slim, right?) But I'm nowhere near 100% sure. In any case, I don't think it should cause any problems in any games that don't require the PS2 internal clock, though.
Edit: You should really have a grounding strip when you work on any electronics. Just a lil' zap can brick your prized possessions. They're not expensive, so making the investment is a good idea.

RE: My PSTwo's clock and sprites has stopped!!!
sounds like a modchip problem to me.
the PS2 clock is located on the CDVD side of it, which is what modchips mess with to make backup dvd's look like originals, so its entirely likely the modchip could be interfering.

Katamari Damacy does
which is why it strangely started working on 0.9.4 around the same time MGS did lol

RE: My PSTwo's clock and sprites has stopped!!!
I don't play that game either. So I guess I'm ok???
EDIT:
The most unbelievable thing has just happened!!!!! I decided to take it apart and try my luck again at getting the clock and what not to work.
Attempt 1: I opened it and vacuumed the PSTwo with the lowest power. -Didn't work.
Attempt 2: I took the battery out to try it. - Didn't work.
Attempt 3: Put the battery back in. -Didn't work.
Then I decided to give up.
I re-assembled it, everything was still not moving. (I prayed to God "Honestly I did, it felt like a good time to do so.") Then I went into System Configuration and fiddled with all the settings, without thinking. Went back to the menu and the circle thing was moving. Went into System Config and the clock was moving!!!!!! I was astonished, it worked!!!!
Maybe God does exist. You never know.
