Is Game Creation/Emulation Possible, with this compiler?

I decided to post this thread again, because It's something I'm interested in, and it happened to get lost, with the host switch/problems, well here it goes:

I was wondering if it's possible to create games/emulators in Bloodshed dev C++? Not any fancy games and such, only like 2d, or simple 3d games. To what extent is game creation possible with dev C++. Also what type of emulators can be programmed in Dev C++?

Any Info on this would be very appreciated, thanks a bunchWink

P.S. I was kind of let down when I found out, that making apps in open-gl requires visual studio.net, as stated on a website, that was linked to, in the Programming tutorials section on ngemu, it kind of makes me wonder, what devs did before visual studio, even existed?!??

Just becuase opengl doesnt work doesnt meen you cant try DirectX or just basic paste of pictures to a forum. I wrote a network pong game one time and all I used were pictures. I would start there and work ur way up to DX or opengl

Thanks Chaos,

Btw do you know of any website, that has tutorials, or info on that subject. I'm eager to learn more, and don't have a clue as where to start. Starting out small, seems like the best idea for me, and then I can work my way up as I go on. I have plenty of time on my hands to learn, and am willing to learn.

you could try VS '05. It's the one I am using and am very satisfied.

I think he wants to avoid buying Visual Studio 2005. Also a side note, since Visual Studio 2005 is currently a beta (that's how it was last I heard). So Microsoft decided to limit it's full capability. So I'd rather have Visual Studio.net

Thanks a bunch, I'll check out that link you postedWink

And yeah, I want to avoid buying visual studio, because It's so darn expensive, and I don't have the money to buy it right now, so I'm basically sticking to the "Free" Compilers, till I can get some money saved up for Visual Studio.

you could always try using SDL, it uses openGL and they have development tools for MingW32, which is basically GCC

This is the website: http://www.libsdl.org/index.php

it also has links to good tutorials to get you started using 2d sprites etc Smile

Thanks RefractionWink for the link, I look into it, a bit later. Nice to see you here on this forum.

:Off-Topic: Btw I like your avatar, of stitch, I was going to watch lilo and stitch, a while back, cause it looked sort of funny in a goofy way, but never did, because I became engrossed in other things.
