I Have an USB Port that doesn't work

Well, two to be exactly. They're located on the front of the cpu, they simply don't work. Any ideas?

RE: I Have an USB Port that doesn't work

Maybe the front panel housing that holds them isn't plugged into the motherboard.Toungue

You won't need drivers since the interface is done by the motherboard, not the connectors.

RE: I Have an USB Port that doesn't work

You will probaby need to connect a pin by pin,
so if are you not used to connecting front USB pannel find a motherboard manual with the pin layout.

Not necessesary.
Most new mainboard have a seperade line for frontusb, frontaudio and sometimes frontfirewire(although you could say firewire s'dead). Pin to Pin-connect is only needed if you want a HDD-Led, a Power-Button, a Reset-Button or sth. like that.

I was talking about the cable, on my front USB panel wires are separated so i had to connect each.

RE: I Have an USB Port that doesn't work

Yeah, mine's like that too, having to use a diagram schematic to plug them into the right pins.

RE: I Have an USB Port that doesn't work

It should look like this, just look at the wire and see what it says, after that look at the scheme and plug it in.
Btw: If you can, rather find a motherboard manual just to be sure, but this diagram should be ok.

I wonder what smart schmuck thought, "I know! We'll separate all the pins for fun and profit!" Those guys deserve to be shot.

Twice.

In the groin.

You'd think a USB layout would be standard.
