How to CONSIDERABLY increase the quality of your uploaded Youtube videos, explained
Check this, full procedure explained:
http://forum.videohelp.com/topic336882.html
Here's an example Youtube video encoded at 2 frickin mbps
Nice enough, given how Youtube vids are supposed to have a forced max rate of 350 kps only
Who said Youtube had too crappy video quality for pcsx2 videos ?
In case you wondered, if you redownload it from youtube, the video turns back into a correct one, as its just remuxed back into a 'potable' container with proper values (that should be near-identical to original ones).
Also, if you experience skipping or stuff like that, its because your comp cant decode the likely too resolution fast enough (well, higher bitrate is fine, but higher dimensions are more ressources-taxing, so a compromise is desirable, with merely raising bitrate being a nice choice already, to reduce video artefacts)
Funny note: Flash isnt hardware-accelerated like MS's Silverlight, and is quite taxing in higher resolutions. With inclusion of x264, it might be the right time to provide that.

Nice. I guess there's already sites that offer HD streaming...
I guess in the near future I won't need to wait to download a season of something, and instead I'll be streaming it at 5Mbps or something

So you hack the file and make it tell youtube that it's within limits?
This is useful for anyone using youtube so I think I will sticky this.

quickie reminder, this seems to still work, and manage to go up to 8 mbps without a problem (higher resolutions than the common 384x288 might skip on older computers btw, as Flash is not hardware-accelerated, but that issue is just Flash's performance issue, not a shortcoming in the "trick")

RE: How to CONSIDERABLY increase the quality of your uploaded Youtube videos, explained
big big update.
YouTube offering higher quality video / Stage6 ends services!
http://forum.videohelp.com/topic346256.html
check it. the youtube trick that previously allowed people to upload videos encoded to up to 8 frickin' mbps (instead of the youtube-enforced maximum bitrate of 350 kbps) seems like its not really working well, lately.
i'll copy the content of the first post here. updates on the topic can be followed in the linked thread.
As a result of this thread ( http://forum.videohelp.com/topic336882-390.html#1814412), we're moving the Subject here.
It seems YouTube is currently offering Higher Quality (up to 850 kbit/s A+V) videos to certain locations only, and testing out several different quality formats.
You can see if your video has different versions offered by YouTube, by adding "&fmt=18" or "&fmt=6" to the end of the URL, like in these examples:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DKw7mu6lzso
yields low quality 320x240, while
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DKw7mu6lzso&fmt=6
gives you high-res high-bandwidth material.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C0_aFU4Yjj8
yields low quality 320x240, while (adding &fmt=18 at the end)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C0_aFU4Yjj8&fmt=18
gives you 480x360 high-bandwidth material, and even higher quality audio!
This makes uploading in FLV format a questionable activity, since obviously YT will convert your video in more than 1 version so they can decide which one to offer to the viewer. The only downside noticed until now is that they don't offer stereo-audio.
discuss. youtube trick or not, seems like future pcsx2 videos uploaded there will look much nicer, in the future...

YT should really offer stereo sound. Widescreen options would also be nice too, 'cus a lot of youtube videos get distorted or suffer letterboxing.

RE: How to CONSIDERABLY increase the quality of your uploaded Youtube videos, explained
Well, seems like Youtube finally stopped this trick for new videos. Old videos already uploaded using this have not been removed or edited, and Since the coming of the youtube beta player, a higher-quality version of the videos can be viewed. Needless to remind that it's avc at a slightly higher resolution.
If a higher version of a video is available, you may just click on "view in higher resolution" and you're done.
