Wink  Our community playing games TOGETHER

I have been thinking with my buttons, on this noon.
"Why don't we play games together?" Ok, you'll think about online gameplay, but I am thinking beyond that...

What if we play a game exchanging save states? Example, we get FF4 for SNES. I start playing, then I upload the save and some one gets it, and plays the game using my save. Then this person plays for a while and uploads it to someone else, and there it goes... sounds fun if you think that we'll be playing a same game with different player skills, specially RPGs. ^_^

That's the main idea, what I am bringing to clarity. Now I'd like to hear your thoughts, so we can discuss to make this idea mature, enjoyable and possible. Smile

RE: Our community playing games TOGETHER

from my point of view rpg genre games needs to be played from start to the end by one player (somebody can lose valuable items or not pick up something and the other player will not achieve this or will not know the story)

ps. if somebody want to level up my FFX characters then i can send my save to him/her Smile

RE: Our community playing games TOGETHER

Thanks for the fast feedback. Smile

About "(somebody can lose valuable items or not pick up something and the other player will not achieve this or will not know the story)", well that's a risk, but at same time it'll make the progress ingame full of challenges.

The player also should write a little log, saying they've done and stuff.

More comments? Smile

RE: Our community playing games TOGETHER

Very interesting!

I agree, a log should be kept somewhere; a set of objectives will be very helpful too. For example some people like myself don't mind not actually playing the story parts but like endless battling just to get rare items or increase skills. Some other people might just want to play the story bits, etc.

Problem is, not sure how compatible states are. Why not use regular saves? When you load the game you can use states if you normally do when you play, then when it's time to pass it on, just save at a regular savepoint.

Savepoints seem more appealing than using savestates in my op Smile

Exactly. Smile

'Sides that, that's only RPG. There must be other games we can play like that. Each participant should be with the official savestate/native save by XX hours, then he must stop to play the game with the official save state and pass it to us.

RE: Our community playing games TOGETHER

Good idea. I agree with RealOne, by using savepoint than savestate. Ok...had decide what game to play yet? Let's start with FF1 first Smile

My reply was directed to Celine's entire idea, you didn't post while I was first reading the page. Wink

And cyclon, I think we first have to decided if we'll start with RPG. Dunno if it's the best start we can have, maybe an adventure game? Well, we shall make a poll for that. Smile

RE: Our community playing games TOGETHER

Sounds like fun! Maybe if we had a group we could all nominate different games and then vote on a game and a timeframe within which we would try to beat it. Specific parts of the game could then be assigned to volunteers who want them. (Personally, I think Zelda:OOT would be a fun game to split among several people, but whatever floats everybody's boat.)
