Post any free software you can find in this thread. However be cautious, there are still rules that apply that are listed below. I will do my best to keep the list updated and moderated as everyone posts new software. You may post any free software, open-source software, Freeware and Opensource games.
Quote:
Rules:
1. Downloads must be free of any Adware/Spyware or Malware.
2. Don't post links to direct downloads. Instead post a link to the downloads section of the software vendors homepage or the project page if it is hosted on Sourceforge or something similar.
3. Abandonware or any other copyrighted material is strictly prohibited. This includes links to it, torrents or links to torrents of copyrighted materials.
4. Alternative Codec Packs are not allowed such as Realplayer alternatives (I know this is a rule on Neowin and Alternatives to the above is considered Warez). Someone may wish to elaborate on this a bit more as I am unsure.
5. The program vender must have in their license agreement that allows the software to be freely and legally distributed on other websites over the internet.
Note to other Moderators and Admins: If there is any other rules that need to be added that I haven't thought of, feel free to add them in.
CDBurnerXP Pro: http://www.cdburnerxp.se/download.php
A nice and stable CD/DVD data burning program for Windows, better than Nero IMO (which adds tons of useless crap).
DVD Decrypter: http://www.dvddecrypter.org.uk/
Freeware DVD ISO maker/burner, one of the best. Unfortunately no longer in development.
Avast! Antivirus: http://www.avast.com/eng/download-avast-...omeEdition
Better than AVG in my opinion (found many things on my hdd which AVG was somehow unable to spot). Needs to register, but it's free for home edition.
Miranda IM: http://www.miranda-im.com/
A fully customisable instant messanger, based on plugins. You can use all known protocols (MSN, Yahoo, ICQ, IRC, etc.) in just one program.
You might want to check out this site. It's open source, free, and doesn't require installing! http://www.portableapps.com/
Intel Core Duo @ 1.86Ghz | 2 GB DDR2 RAM | 894 MB ATI Mobility Radeon x1400
80GB Hard Disk Drive | Windows Vista Ultimate
Co-owner of General Emulation
Updated first post with links for freeware programs, didn't add links to freeware websites because I only want to keep links to the actual freeware programs in my first post in this thread.
Meh, I'm tired sorry about the sloppiness of the way the links were added in my first post of this thread.
If any other moderators wants to help by editing and adding links to the first post to make things a bit easier for me, feel free to do so. I will try my best to keep up for now.
To make reg files for portable versions of your programs/emus/games/whatever, or check registry changes or the "discretion" of software, this gets my warm recommendation, for those who want it easy and fairly straightforward
Portable Regshot
Quote:
Regshot makes it possible to make two images of the base of register of Windows in order to know the modifications made by certain operations, like the installation or the use of a software.
Regshot offers less possibilities than Registry Tracer, but it has the merit to be free and can easily be coupled with other software to carry out maintenance actions, of deployment and configuration of software. Thus one can make use of it to create automatic configurations of software.
Coupled to AutoIt it makes it possible to deploy remote software with less problems than certain software owners such as for example SMS. Regshot also makes it possible to check the "discretion" of certain software. Let us suppose that you have a software that you wish to use starting from a key USB, such as for example Framakey. However, you do not wish that this software leave traces in the base of registry of the host-computer. Then, you can call upon Regshot, which will say all to you! Regshot is available in several languages, of which French. To change language, it is necessary to modify the file "language.ini", distributed with Regshot.
I'll be adding a similar proggy after that that is even more feature-complete, though somewhat less straightforward. Want to make a portable version of your fave emus or proggies? Hey, why not?
PS: this one's under GPL with accompanying source, so I took the freedom to upload it here. Feel free to take it down if it's not ok.
KeyScrambler Personal edition (free) encrypts your logins and passwords AS YOU TYPE these to log into your fave sites, shielding these from enterception from keyeloggers.
There are other payware versions that extend your protection to ALL websites and all infos, not only login data.
Quote:
- KeyScrambler Personal protects all your login information from keyloggers for free.
- KeyScrambler Professional protects everything you type into a web page - your passwords, credit card numbers, search terms, and email messages - in all parts of the browser, including URL, popup password dialogs, and master passwords.
- KeyScrambler Premium, developed for businesses of all sizes, protects Outlook and Microsoft Office applications, in addition to protecting everything that the Pro version protects.
Quote:
KeyScrambler defeats keyeloggers by encrypting your keystrokes at the keyboard driver level, deep within the operating system. When the encrypted keystrokes reach your browser, KeyScrambler then decrypts them so you see exactly the keys you've typed. Keyeloggers could only record the encrypted keys, which are completely indecipherable.

Half decent html editor. Not as good as Dreamweaver or anything, but it is better than using notepad if you have limited html skills.
