Free DVD creator/burning program

I have some AVI files on my PC that I would like to turn into a DVD, anyone know of a free quality program that I can DL to get the job done?

TMPGenc is cool for conversion to vcd/dvd/mpg

there's always SUPER, but thats more of a spiffy GUI slapped on the core convertors.

once you have dvd-compliant mpeg-2 files, you can burn them in pretty much any burner app, under the dvd video profile (required for hardware player playback complinace)
