I bought a copy of FF9 and i downloaded ePSXe and the front loader Delta. I also downloaded all of Pete's plugins. It's a US version so I shouldn't need any patches. Everytime I try to run the game it comes up with a black screen and doesn't do anything. I'm very new to this and this is my first attempt at emulation. If anyone has any ideas that could help I'd appreciate it.
Hey, welcome around.
The cdr plugin needs to be configured *beforehand*. The gpu plugins could be set the the "Best' settings, for starters.
Mind to post your hardware specs ?
Sapu's cdr plugin is troublefree. just select it, all gets autodetected.
i'd suppose your gpu is a directx9 one, so using the pete opengl2 plugin should be cooler. just try the "best" settings first, and see how nicely it performs.
the sound plugin doesnt really matter, though just keeping it to the pete sound plugin would be nicer
unfortunately it's still not working. i tried using the "detect best setting" and for some reason what ever plug in i use i can't get anything but a black screen. would it be easier to create an iso? if so does anyone have a link to a tutorial for creating an iso? i have the original game so this will be legal.
I'm having problems running FF9 too... At times, right after the battle ends, the game freezes up completely. Also, if for some reason it doesn't, whenever I get to the point where you catch the cargo ship which is supposed to take you back to Alexandria but the hero has promised the princess to take to Lindblum (forgot spelling), the game ALWAYS freezes at a certain screen when the cutscene showing the ship flying is displayed. Somebody please help!
Am trying ePSXe 1.6.0,
Pete's OpenGL Driver 1.76 with a GeForce 6200 with 256 MB VRAM,
P.E.Op.S DirectSound Driver 1.9 with Soundmax Audio Drivers for my PC,
ePSXe WNT/W2K core 1.5.2.
CPU: 1.9 GHz, RAM 1 GB
Also I use Alcohol 120% to mount the images, cue/bin format.
Can anybody tell me what to do?
PS: I know ePSXe itself doesn't hang, coz when I hit Escape, I'm taken to the ePSXe main screen with the File/Run/Config etc. menus.
The attachment is the screen at which the game stops responding (emulator does not).

SGradeFreak, I used to have the same problem with Final Fantasy IX. Sometimes the problem might not be with your emulator settings, but with the actual version of the emulator. When my game froze, I went back to the previous version, and it worked just fine. Try giving this a try. It will probably work for you.
