The email notifications for new posts and private messages do not pass yahoo's antispam engine.

Any insight on that? Some of these manage to pass though, but in insignificant numbers.

Does this happen with hotmail for example? Remember the GooMail controversy, Hotmail is actually doing the same but with much heftier charges.

No idea why. That usually only happens when emails are reported as spam numerous times by different users....

I believe it has to do with the default setting of getting email notifications for threads you have subscribed to. I myself was surprised to have like a hundred of these, so others might flag it.

I'd advise changing email notifications for threads to disabled, unless a memeber specifically wants email notifications (for him to check then).

EDIT: hell, even _this_ post still had email notification. I know it can be disabled generally forum-wide, but that's too much asking noobs to do, hence the spam reporting.

Actually, changing default settings for new registrations isn't possible in MyBB, so I'm afraid if a member doesn't want the notifications, they should either change it during time of registration or soon after, unless they prefer the notifications.

Submitting this to them should get it added to the next version then.

btw, where can one disable notifications for new replies, cuz I couldnt find this one, but maybe I've just overseen it. Just cuz it reached 250 notifications here in my mailbox.

lol. if you are quick replying, untick the email notifications from there, if your using a new reply, do the same, just scroll down a bit and untick email notifications

Doing so all the time isnt something light. One can understand why members flag genrelemu remailer as spam.

In UserCP, go to options and under "Messaging and Notification" disable the option "Automatically subscribe to threads you post in.";)

I never get notifications.

if you want to get notifications tick on email notifications beside the quick reply textbox before replying to a post. or if you want email notifications to be always on do as plot has stated above.

Dirty "fixes". It's annoying to uncheck it every time (one can easily forget), and I like my threads autosubscribed to, like in my other vB forums.

In your UserCP, you can globally disable your defaults (such as email notification on new posts, etc...).
