PS1 emu for PSP...Yes... there is one PS1 emu for PSP with full speed and more compatibility. It is from SONY itself which included in official firmware 3.02 and above. Originally PS1 games can only be played on your PSP if you own a PS3. But luckily there is Custom Firmware which allow you to convert your PS1 games into EBOOT format and play on PSP. Also the great thing about custom firmware is we can run homebrew games, emulators and application on it. Updating the custom firmware mostly because some PSP games may required latest SONY firmware and PS1 compatibility increase or additional features.

@LaserJohn: If you're above a certain "official" firmware level (3.51+, IIRC), you'll need a Pandora/Jigkick battery + memory card to downgrade. Otherwise, you'll just need an original copy of Lumines. Once you're in a homebrew-friendly firmware, you can install any custom firmware you'd like.
Edit: You also might want to check out the forums at exophase.com if you're serious about installing CFW on your PSP. There are a number of helpful guides there.
Edit #2: It's also possible to downgrade without a Jigkick or Lumines, but it requires a lower firmware and possibly GTA:LCS. It's unlikely that you'll be able to find one that have a low enough firmware, though.

Yeah, there are some risks involved with upgrading or downgrading your firmware if you don't take the proper precautions (charged battery + using ac adapter, using official sies and following directions closely). It's possible to brick your PSP technically, but even this can be undone with the proper tools now.
It is possible to upgrade from the official 3.50 firmware. You'll first need to downgrade to a homebrew-capable firmware using an original copy of Lumines. A good guide for it is here. After that, you'll want to install the M33 firmware. To do that, you'll need to install 3.52 M33 (guide here) then install 3.71 M33 (guide here). Hope that helps!

Now I'm on 3.71 M33-2 plus 1.50 addon v2. The good thing is video section now had "repeat" and "shuffle" option. Funny that SONY didn't implement this in the first place or else PMPlayer Advance will still my best player.

Thanks for the warning. I think using plugin is the safe way instead of flashing method.
