RE: Apply for PCSX2 Beta Forums Access here.

Thanks Plot, for considering, and adding meToungue

Off-Topic: Btw, I'm going back to college to finish up my degree, So Visual Studio might be something that I'll buy, as well starting to buy parts to
build my my ultra Gaming PC. I look to hopefully become as prevalent in programming, as some of the Emu-Authors are, and hopefully may be able to help contribute to PCSX2, and other emulation projects as well somedayWink

Now back on topicGrin

RE: Apply for PCSX2 Beta Forums Access here.

Hi

This is my first post at GE, so probably You will not give me a chance to test a new beta of pcsx2 Sad
I don't think that sending 100 posts is a good idea, i prefer quality not quantity,

I had a lot of fun with compilation of previous pcsx2 source and I visit this website everyday looking for any news, but pcsx2 releases are rare so i'am waiting for a release of updated source code. I would like to help pcsx2 dev team in coding, but right now i'am not so good at coding and i can only test beta's or send donation.

About me:
I like emu's because i can have many systems in one box and old games and hardware will not be forgotten i'am a big fan of Mame, Winuae, Chankast, Epsxe and of course Pcsx2.

When i was at school i choose "hardware path" - how to fix, repair hardware (i had programming at school too but it was borland turbo pascal and basic at entry level, coders in my country don't earn too much, so that's why i made my choice not to be a coder, but i want to change it in the future)

My questions to pcsx2 dev team:

1)why pcsx2 coders hide beta/wip versions from people? Do You fear of something or what?

2)why beta versions of pscx2 are not available at pcsx2.net? In my opinion all stuff about ps2 emulation should be at one place I think that forum of pcsx2.net should looks like this:

*coder section
*ps2 tools, saves, screenshoots...
*lamerzone - faq's, questions, how to run FFx Wink

Am i right?

RE: Apply for PCSX2 Beta Forums Access here.

First off, you're right, I don't know you, and I don't know what kind of person you are, so I won't be making an exception for you. Sorry, but it's a judgement call, and I can't do that if I don't know you.
Secondly, we don't give betas out here. We provide information to help members compile their own builds, but we do not give sources, binaries or anything like that.Wink
Also, betas aren't publicly released due to the fact of the mass confusion that would arise from it. Not to mention the complaining and moaning that would come from users if a certain game got broken, etc...
Lastly, it doesn't matter how YOU would have the site. Ultimately, it is the team's decision to make, and they did that a long time ago.Wink

RE: Apply for PCSX2 Beta Forums Access here.

The fact that you asked why, after the recent posts explaining things, shows that you didn't give much thought to why those decisions were made or what the general feeling of the people in charge possibly was.

Not flaming, just pointing out that it doesn't take much common sense or sensitivity to think what the impact of a request and how you phrase it will have.

I doubt you have much experience with collaborative coding, I suggest you look around on sourceforge; emulation is not a fit introduction subject for that. No doubt the developers have more pressing issues than handholding newcomers. The "here it is, take it and go away" method doesn't work either, and if you paid attention to General Plot's posts surely you understand why.

After all you said it yourself, quality over quantity. At the risk of offending other hopefuls, I'd say that if you don't have any idea what this kind of project entails or the effort involved beyond "let's just compile stuff and read out what errors we get" - which I suspect is what many think Rolleyes - just watch the progress in the screenshot thread with the rest of the peanut gallery.

RE: Apply for PCSX2 Beta Forums Access here.

I love you Celine, have I ever told you that?Toungue Seriously, your post is right on the money. For those that can't understand the changes around here, all you need to do is look at what people did with the information that was freely floating around. It's been a concern of the development team, and a reality as of late, that people would be use the guides provided for the wrong reasons, hence the changes in policy here.Wink

You can't ask it. There's no download at the moment. The only thing you can do is grab the source and compile it. But we don't help for this type of things. When it will be downlodable you can find it in http://www.pcsx2.net. Read the rules or the next time i will issue a warning to you.

RE: Apply for PCSX2 Beta Forums Access here.

Hello everybody!

I know I haven't been active in here.
I've been very busy on university and work.

Anyways, I would like to see the new beta forum, if it's possible Plot.

I certainly hope it helps keep things clean. I think this is probably something I should have done to begin with, but the important thing is that it's rectified now.Smile
