RE: And now I have a 8800GT

As promised here are a few pictures of the card.

It came in a pretty standard video card box with a whole "silver surfer" theme in front.

And on the back of the box you have a list of features as well as a shot of Crysis and Hellgate:London.

Inside the outer box it has another sturdier box inside with a fairly thick plastic cover to protect the card, surprisingly the back of the card is covered by a single sheet of pink foam rather than a anti-static bag.

With the plastic cover open we find the card itself, some TV adapters, a DVI-VGA converter and a DVI-HDMI converter.

This is the card up close, it has the same theme on the cooler as the outside the box.

Here's a shot of the card's SLI connector and some cooling fins, having a single slot solution will help when I decide to add another 8800GT as it's going to have a larger air gap between the cards allowing more air to go though.

The card needs it's own dedicated power connector, my original 400 Watt power supply can't provide the required power to the card especially with the twin 500GB 7500RPM hard drives in it so I am running it using a pair of PSUs for now, I am waiting for my new Modular PSU to arrive, the shot was taken before I realized that I will need it.

Here's a close up shot of it after installation, you can also clearly see what kind of Motherboard I have inside my PC.

4.1GHZ is a fairly average result from a E8400, hardly going to make me weep. What GPU do you currently have bottlenecking that out of curiosity?

RE: And now I have a 8800GT

I got a X1950Pro bottlenecking it. 4.1Ghz with a 8x multiplier. After 4.2-4.3 with 9x the FSB can't keep up as much. It plateaus even in PCSX2 oddly enough. But hey, I got screwed with 2.6Ghz on my AMDX2 brisbane, so I'm happy. My overclock in theory can do what my old CPU could do on both cores with just one. I also didn't pay out the ass for the CPU either($205). If you want to make fun of somebody's overclock, make fun of gigaherz's 2.8 or 2.9 on his E6550 as that is his mobo's limit. Toungue

Also the card I'm getting soonly... http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as...6814127329

Nice Godwin, its cooling solution seems a lot better than the vanilla coolers.

RE: And now I have a 8800GT

I also found something else about my card. It is called MSI Zilent 8800GT in Europe. It houses a "VF1000" Zalman GPU cooler well kinda. More like a VF1000 Lite, it has fewer fins and they are Aluminum and it is a little smaller. Woo! And for $210 with a $20 MIR too. I got lucky. Toungue
