It's a shame to see that GE hasn't that much activity lately, but I've had an idea to probably improve the activity of the members:
A (Classic) Gaming Quiz!
Someone who has answered the last post (I would create the first post) opens a new one with some sort of an advice.
It can be a screenshot, a music file or anagram. Than the other members try to guess the game title and the console. He'll get the point and creates a new post.
Probably we could also have a sticky with the point statistics.
It helped in another post I am member of to increase the activity enormous, so what do you think plot? And the other members?

I can create a subforum in gaming discussion if the intention is based around classic gaming trivia. If people are interested in this, make it known here. If the feedback is good, we'll give it a go.

if posts there dont increase postcount, sounds ok here (curbing postcount spam, while still generating public content), though a lenient member-only section could fly as high. plenty concepts available. quizz doesnt sound like a bad one, could be fun too...

objective: disagreeing would require a strong dislike for the idea, hence why noone would be expected to vote against it.

objective: this does no harm, no reason for not proceeding (wathever poll says), unless there is something against it (practical arguments like "forum index cluterring" for example, though in this case 1 addition either as main section/subsection wouldn't be any significant as to induct a negative view of the idea itself)

subjective: if there are no arguments against it, sounds ok, here.

objective: the argument in favor of it are sound enough not to require a poll. a decision would hence not require user feedback. if it sounds ok, no real risk for it to overshadow other sections anyway...beta beggers could use it as a trampoline for 100 posts, but disabling postcount there would curb such spamish tendencies.

I dont say its a bad idea. Could generate more interest among members as well and more activity. But I guess what we really need is some sort of way to promote the forum first, we got an Affliate, but we still need to in a good way.

I can suggest you AEP-emulation as an Affiliate... retroK is a good friend of mine and I could ask him! I'm a staff member there aswell.
We already have 6 members which are for the new subforum... we need more!

Mmh, that means, that we now have nearly all active posters! ^^

Most posts are in the offtopic part of the forum, so why we don't add a new forum where the posts don't count?
