Poll: How do you calculate bytes transformation?
Using 1000 (makes easier to calculate since it'll use only zeros)
1024 (I want the exactly result)

RE: 1000 or 1024?

It's the same reason a DVD-R claims it can hold 4.7 GB, when in fact, it only holds 4.37 GB.Toungue

RE: 1000 or 1024?

The kilo = 1000 does not apply to computers , so a lot of computer companies and stores end up using false advertising to some extent....

When writing an emu, you have to know this stuff, or else you are sooooooooo fucking screwed! Evil

Besides, for me it's just easier to use hex. This is how I calculate bytes:

1 KB = 0x400 (1024)
1 MB = 0x400 * 0x400 (1024 * 1024)
...

and so on Smile

RE: 1000 or 1024?

Since Azureus is using the 1024-version I'm pretty much being forced the hard way.
